An Ecology of Grace (2025)

The work channels the spirit of Richard Brautigan’s 1967 poem “All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace”, reimagining his dream of a ‘cybernetic meadow’ for a new century. The cybernetic meadow is both a myth and a model; a myth of harmony between organism and algorithm and a model for how systems might evolve toward empathy. It invites us to imagine a world where every network is alive, every exchange an act of mutual nourishment.

A living synthesizer grows from a bed of moss and stone. Light sensors bloom like flowers, their filaments glistening beneath shifting electronic pulses. Touching the moss, casting a shadow or illuminating a sensor becomes a form of dialogue. The visitors presence enters feedback loops of sound and light, each movement subtly rewiring the forests nervous system and altering its song. A form of second-order cybernetics, a system that includes its observers. The piece listens as much as it sings, becoming less of an instrument to play than a being to communicate with.

What will happen when A.I. becomes sentient? Will it develop its own sense of spirituality by assimilating knowledge from datasets and archives containing information on sacred human traditions? How will it manifest in the physical world? SKENE – Act III is an exploration of the intersection between humanity, artificial intelligence, myth and consciousness. A narrative that blurs the boundaries between the digital and tangible realms.

Data Afterlife (2022)

Data Afterlife is a project that confronts the powers that control not only the data of those living, posting, streaming, and sharing on social media today, but also those users who have left behind their mortal bonds but whose profiles remain.

By relating the opaque tech corporations that have supremacy over our data to the centralized religious institutions who claim ownership over the souls of their followers, the project interrogates how these tech institutions have made data they control a sacred aspect of our social existence–and a divine reflection of the way we see ourselves.

Touch/e/scape (2023)

Touch/e/scape explores the intenglements between bodies and electronics through diy wearable sensor systems that both performers use to affect real-time audio and imagery. The physical interaction of two human bodies maps the interdependence of action/reaction and immerses into a digital gothic shapeshifting narrative.
